Digital healthcare company Doctors plans to offer services to care providers in US
Japanese digital healthcare innovation company Doctors has announced plans to enter the US market in the first half of this year.
The expansion is part of the company’s global strategy to offer a wider range of services, including the development and provision of digital health platforms.
The US healthcare system is primarily based on private insurance and presents a unique landscape for Doctors, which operates under Japan’s universal health insurance model.
Despite these differences, Doctors said it has identified opportunities to innovate and improve care and services for patients in the US by acquiring local medical institutions and partnering with local businesses.
The company’s business model is designed to enable enterprises to engage in the healthcare sector by providing a digital healthcare platform on an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) basis.
This allows them to create bespoke virtual health services and establish healthcare connections with customers.
Doctors also operates medical institutions and offers access to in-person care at its network of ‘digitally transformed’ medical facilities.
Its approach is expected to benefit US patients by offering health maintenance, health status assessment, medical navigation and reduced healthcare burdens.
Doctors leverages a network of more than 700 expert doctors to provide various services.
These include Doctors Hub for support in commercialising digital healthcare services, as well as Doctors Next for delivering digital healthcare services and medical DX to institutions.
Another of the company’s services is Doctors Station, which combines a medical Cloud platform with connectivity to a network of medical institutions.
By replicating its successful Japanese model, Doctors plans to introduce its digital health platform to the US, which currently has more than 47,000 medical institution accounts and 180,000 healthcare professionals.
The digital health platform is designed to allow corporations, municipal governments and other entities to participate and develop their healthcare services.
