MediBuddy’s report unveils changing Indian trends, ET HealthWorld

Mumbai: MediBuddy, a digital healthcare platform, reached over 1.27 crore Indians in 2024, reflecting the growing shift towards digital healthcare solutions in the country. The platform’s data highlights important trends in how people access and prioritize healthcare.

A significant portion of bookings, around 40 percent, were made for family and friends, showcasing the emphasis on collective well-being in Indian households. Within this group, 44 percent of the bookings were for parents, reflecting the younger generation’s active involvement in their care. Spouses accounted for 33 percent of the bookings, while 11 percent were for children, indicating a focus on partner and child health.

One of the most prominent insights from 2024 is the significant shift in when people seek healthcare. Thirty-seven percent of online consultations in 2024 occurred after 6 PM, highlighting a growing demand for high-quality healthcare 24×7. This shift underscores the need for flexible, accessible care that aligns with modern, busy lifestyles, moving beyond traditional office hours.

Specialties like gastroenterology, pediatrics, and dermatology were among the most accessed on the platform. Gastroenterologists saw high demand, indicating rising awareness of gut health, while pediatricians played a vital role in supporting families with their children’s growth and health needs. Dermatology also emerged as a key specialty, with increasing consultations for skin issues such as acne and skincare concerns.

To put this in perspective, that’s the distance it would take to travel from Kashmir to Kanyakumari 2,192 times. Of particular note is that 25 percent of the phlebotomists making these tireless journeys were women, exemplifying the empowerment of women and the dedication and expertise that drive MediBuddy’s commitment to accessible care.

The insights gathered show that healthcare is becoming increasingly personal, accessible, and environmentally conscious. The year’s data also highlights how individual choices can have a collective, positive impact—on both personal health and the planet.
